Every week, in my ENG 250 college class, I have to complete reading discussion forums. Essentially, my classmate and I are given some critical-thinking problems, based on our reading for the week. We then create some of our own questions. Within the next few days, we then have to respond to a couple other students, either to the questions they made or to their responses to the original questions. Sometimes, we also discuss some of the weekly questions in our regular Zoom call breakout groups, giving us the opportunity to see other students' perspectives ahead of time. This allows me to regularly practice the 21st Century Skill, Communication Skills, as each week I have to be able to communicate my responses with not just my teacher, but all of my peers. I'd say the most difficult part of this task is creating questions for my classmates to answer. I have to make sure the questions are relevant and invoke critical thinking, while not being so difficult that they feel unnecessary or answers come off as opinionated. These skills will help me a lot in my future education. I've already had very similar assignments in my economics class, and I feel that I will have more in my classes to come. Also, being able to thoroughly communicate and express ideas on difficult topics, while receiving the same, will be essential to classes I may have with any group work whatsoever.
